O’Leary’s Clover Farm: A Daniel S. O’Leary Camp For Children With Diabetes

O’Leary’s Clover Farm
A Reality in 2007!!

O’Leary’s Clover Farm will open its doors to campers this October with a family weekend.  The family weekend will run from Friday through Sunday, date and location to be announced soon.

The weekend will provide families the opportunity to learn about O’Leary’s Clover Farm and our partner Setebaid Services.  Children will have many opportunities to learn about managing diabetes through teachable moments that naturally occur while participating in fun filled events.  While children are engaged by camp counselors, parents will have the opportunity to attend breakout sessions with doctors, dietitians and diabetes educators.

Funding the Camp Program

A Busy 2007

Running a camp program, even a weekend retreat, is extremely expensive. O’Leary’s Clover Farm has the resources to take this next step due to the hard work and generosity of you, our supporters.  In order to ensure we can continue the event every year and expand it to a week long summer camp program, the Camp Committee has undertaken the goal to raise $30,000 in 2007 so that our current savings remains intact.  This is a big goal, as we raised just over half of this amount in 2006.  We are in for a busy 2007.

Many events are already in the planning stages.  AccuTrex Products is once again hosting The Clover Farm Classic this fall which is our largest fundraiser.  We will once again be selling Ice Cream at the Herndon Festival.-Northern Virginia’s largest community festival.  Additionally, we are adding a New Year’s Eve Celebration at Julian’s, A Tamburitzan’s Dance with a Bake Sale, and Monthly Restaraunt nights at various local eateries.  This winter we will be selling Christmas Cards and Gift Donation Cards as well as launching a Christmas Shopping Campaign where Friend’s of O’Leary’s Clover Farm can do their Christmas shopping from catalogs such as Pampered Chef, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Southern Living, and Longaberger Baskets (a portion of sales will go to the camp).

Yes, it will be a very busy year indeed! Additional information will be posted on our web site as details are finalized. Check periodically for updates!  www.olearyscloverfarm.org.

 A Year in Review

2006 was a great year for O’Leary’s Clover Farm. Due to the generosity of the Jon Malone band we held two dances which raised over $4500.  The St. Patrick’s Day Dance was a smashing success and our largest to date! This fall we had special performances by The Fugitives, Joey Nuzam, Casey Linden and Gina Collins.  A special thank you to the band members for all of their hard work and time.

The Clover Farm Classic Presented by AccuTrex Products raised an additional $5,000.  Although the cold and rain kept some away we had a wonderful day of competition! Thank you to all of the businesses who generously supported the event and a special Thank You to AccuTrex Products, the host and winner of the 2006 Clover Farm Cup!
